2015:The Age of the Lightsaber-wielding Jurassic Goat Max of Panem

Dear Readers

A New Year dawns….………………

From Countries to societies to organizations to people, everyone is gearing up and getting ready to face 2015.

Filled with new possibilities and plans, new desires and dreams, new aims and ambitions, new goals and resolutions but above all else the new year fills in our hearts the hope for a better future.

But what can we expect besides hope?

The answer to that, my esteemed readers, lies in the scribblings that have been etched upon the computer screen you view this very instant.

United Nations Year Designation

The UN has anointed 2015 as the International Year of Light (IYL) and the International Year of Soil (IYS). As it does every year, with such an appointment comes a certain responsibility as this will affect whether we view this year to be a success.

United Nations International Year of Light 2015The International Year of Light will be a commemoration of the achievements and advances in the field of optics and photonics. Felicitously the opening ceremony of IYL is to be held in Paris, the City of lights. The UN intends on creating global awareness about the applications and benefits of light-based technology to humanity and its contribution to make the world a greener, cleaner and better place. Exhibitions, grants, sponsorships, campaigns and more are all being set up to foster creativity, generate ideas, inspire development and establish a general mindset for the integration of photonics into our lives. Let’s hope this year of lights will lead to a brighter future.

United Nations International Year of Soil 2015
The International Year of Soil is an observance by the UN to create public understanding about the importance of soil and to stress its sustainable use. The Global Soil Partnership, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification all collaborated to organize programs to educate communities on the significance of soil to food security, climate change, entire ecosystems and ultimately our very lives. Policies, initiatives and agendas are being drawn up to promote the sustainable management and safeguarding of soil. An imperative move by the UN, one which will ensure that the human race doesn’t end up biting the dust.

Countries and Economies

The Chinese dubbed this the year of the Goat, possibly in the hopes that they can emulate the innate balance of the goat to stabilize their economy. In any case, with the ending of its 12th Five Year Plan (FYP) or Zhōngguó Wǔnián Jìhuà as the Chinese call it, China will shift its growth to a lower gear as structural, financial and environmental reformations take precedence.

2015 Year of the Goat

Europe moves on to another year of struggle, on the rickety uphill path towards financial recovery. They will not only have to face squalls from outside the continent, in the form of depleting global demand and withering trade, but also internal political turmoil and public discontentment , which are as dangerous as the Foehn Winds.
To counter these issues the EU and the European Central Bank (ECB) aim to purchase sovereign bonds in hopes of engendering demand, and they also seek to implement better monetary, fiscal and structural policies.

The US is also on unsteady ground especially after the 2014 Congress budget approving bank bail outs. With a $3.2 Trillion consumer debt outstanding and US households only just beginning to make more money than they owe, the question remains whether this was a wise decision. Some experts fear that in 2015 the debt may worsen due to this and other factors (such as the oil price drop), and may plunge the US into another relapse of financial crisis. However if maintained properly i.e. managing risks, reducing subprime loans, etc such a disaster can be averted.

Science and Technology

For science and technology, 2015 looks to be a very promising year.

We start off with NASA’s Space probes “Dawn” and “New horizons” making their way, respectively, towards  the dwarf planet Ceres and the now dwarf planet Pluto.
Ceres Dawn NASA 2015
After its exploration of the Protoplanet Vesta, NASA probe Dawn is moving on towards Ceres in what will be the first ever investigation of a dwarf planet, in April 2015.

Its mission will involve orbiting Ceres in order create a full characteristic profile of the dwarf planet. The mission will give us valuable insights into the early stages of planet formation.

Pluto New Horizons NASA 2015
NASA probe New Horizon’s ETA is set to be in July 2015 and will mark our first close encounter with the controversial celestial object known as Pluto.

It is equipped to gather data in the form of photographs, spectroscopic analyses, dust measurements and radio science investigation data.
True to its name the NASA probe has set its sights on new horizons, as it hopes to delve further onward, past Pluto, into the Kuiper belt.

First British Brit in Space 2015More on the topic of space, Olde Britain will be sending its first man to space at the end of the year. Major Tim Peake was selected by the European Space Agency Programme as a candidate despite Britain’s admonishment of Space endeavours. The ESA hopes that this will get Britain to let go of its backward ways and inspire them to participate and embrace Astronomy. A Soyuz capsule will launch Major Tim Peake into the ranks of the Astronauts and to the ISS where he will be stationed for 6 months.

It was in 1997 that Andy Green set the fastest land speed record of 763 mph, in the Thrust SSC.  The RAF Wing commander will return once more to top his own World record in a spectacle symbolic of the statement that you are your greatest competition. The event, set in a desertified lakebed in the Northern Cape of South Africa, will be streamed live online in 2016. But as much as the driver is important to accomplishing this feat the vehicle itself, is imperative.

Dubbed the Bloodhound SSC this beast of a supersonic car can achieve a terrifying speed of 1000 mph. Forged out of titanium and carbon fibre this machine is streamlined in the shape of a pencil. I’m positive by now every hot blooded male is anxious to know what holy engine powers this godly vessel. Fitted in its bowels is a cutting edge Rolls Royce EJ200 jet engine used in Typhoon Euro fighters capable of producing a staggering 135,000 horsepower.

Bloodhound supersonic car Andy green world speed record 2015

There is no doubt that the Sonic boom of Andy Green breaking his own world record will echo throughout 2016 but the astounding accomplishment of crafting such a monstrously fast piece of engineering will resonate throughout 2015.

Artificial intelligence, Data gathering /processing and Robotics will be further incorporated into our lives this year.
The use of wearable technology will rise exponentially, enabling the capture of data at a much larger and more personal level.
This “Big Data” will help programmers code algorithms to better process data and allow for improved decision making and predicting by computers.
Cognitive computing and artificial intelligence are taking long strides with enhancements in voice recognition, translation, GPS/ mapping and travel, problem solving, medical diagnosis, emotion identification, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.  Robotics goes hand in hand with these developments as robots become more and more like their creators, and in 2015, will enter our household environment.  We might also see FDA approved medical nanotechnology within the year.

Large Hadron Collider Cern Super collider 2015 restart reinitiate fire up anti matter dark matter supersymmetryAfter the discovery of the Higgs Boson in 2012, the Large Hadron Collider laid dormant for 2 long years.
But in 2015 Scientists are planning to reinitiate the particle collider .They plan on conducting three year long experiments, broaching the subjects of dark matter, anti matter and super symmetry to seek answers to the deepest questions in science. A discovery made will tear open a rift into a world of infinite unknown and untapped possibilities that will be universally paradigm shifting.

Out of the dozen notable events that are going to occur this year the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris will be among the most noteworthy as it will set the tone of how environmentally engaged we are in the future. The goal of the summit will be to achieve legally binding affirmation from countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to restrict global temperature rises. The involvement of the US and China (the biggest greenhouse gas producers) assures the UN that they won’t suffer the debacle that was the
Copenhagen summit of ‘09 and is quite a positive sign of the summit’s success.

Movies

It would appear that 2015 also bodes well for Hollywood. The year will see the continuation of several legendary series and the end of a couple more.

Avengers Age of Ultron 2015 Antman Marvel Phase 2

Marvel finishes the second phase of its illustrious cinematic universe in 2015 with the upcoming Antman movie and the even closer premiere of Avengers: the Age of Ultron.

Mocking Jay part 2 2015 Hunger Games

2015 marks the conclusion of the grandiose Hunger Games series with its final installment The Mocking Jay Part 2 which will no doubt end with a, spoiler alert, glorious bang.

Jurassic World 2015 Park dinosaurs

Universal Studios finally reinitiates the fourth official movie in its blockbuster Jurassic series. Get ready to see your favorite reptiles, and some new genetically modified lizards, on the big screen, once again in this larger than life installment titled “Jurassic World”

Mad Max Fury Road 2015

Speaking of bleak futuristic worlds, the gritty post-apocalyptic series Mad Max rises from the ashes of yesteryear getting its fourth sequel.

Star Wars VII The Force Awakens episode lightsaber 2015However, Star Wars VII steals most of the thunder and lightning of 2015 and rightfully so as the continuation comes 10 years after the release of the last Star Wars chapter, in an episode aptly named the “Force awakens”. It will follow 30 years after the events that transpired in Star Wars Episode VI “The Return of the Jedi”, the cast of which will be returning and joining a new set of actors. Star Wars VII heralds the coming of a third trilogy in the epic saga.

Em Drive: The Little Engine That Could

Dear Readers

In this vast Blogosphere it is vital to differentiate yourself from the rest of the faceless mass. I have done this by always being fashionably late and thus keeping stories alive. By giving you outdated news, I strive to combat their extremely high mortality rate.

In this day and age People yearn for new and fresh things, it’s like they have this bottomless pit in their souls which they try to fill up by cramming the latest trend, radical acronyms, hip songs, etcetera, etcetera.

First things first I’m the realest; so to those people I say screw you sirs and madams and while we are at it, screw main stream media.

I’m a Hipster jyeah , Bohemian jyeah  hypocrite, Did I say that out loud?  jyeah. But no matter ,the point is  old is gold (or bit coin, apparently that’s supposed to be more expensive).

After that long winded excuse for my tardiness that alienated not only you dear readers but also my colleagues in the media sector Let us dwell upon a controversy of greater import and actual impact.

I’m sure by now you’ve heard of the EM drive, the proposed Electromagnetic wave engine that seemingly defies the laws of physics, specifically speaking the law of conservation of momentum and energy.
A meme cleverly employing the name of the professor in the photograph Em drive electron magnetic waves microwaves photons science thruster engine space travel astronomy exploration spacecraft future fuelless industry quantum mechanics laws of physics
It is wondrous how the quantum realm defies main-stream classical physics.

We are both of rebellious nature like that.

The device offers seemingly reaction-less thrust which to scientists, especially classical ones, verges on blasphemy.

However British Inventor, aerospace engineer and a director of Space Propulsion Research .Ltd Roger Shawyer argues that this is not the case .By using the framework of special relativity, he states that the differential of radiation pressure is caused by the action of group velocity of waves in different frames of reference which basically means that a reaction occurred.

How it works

Em drive electron magnetic waves microwaves photons science thruster engine space travel astronomy exploration spacecraft future fuelless industry quantum mechanics laws of physics

The EmDrive uses a high powered vacuum tube called a magnetron that creates microwaves which are fed into a conical resonant cavity (waveguide) that directs this microwave energy towards a dielectric resonator which oscillates these waves with greater amplitudes and when it finally reaches the end of the tapered cavity, turns this energy into thrust

What’s incredible is that the only energy it needs for this thrust is electricity, no reaction mass fuel is needed. Nada! Nihil! 什麼都不! Pagh!

Meme of a Kligon saying "No" Em drive electron magnetic waves microwaves photons science thruster engine space travel astronomy exploration spacecraft future fuelless industry quantum mechanics laws of physics
Worf, Son of Mogh

Product Testing 1, 2, 3

Chinese researchers led by Professor Juan Yang created a proto type of the proposed EM drive (which he claimed to have created a valid electromagnetic theory behind) A maximum thrust of 720 mN was measured at 2500 W of input power.

To put this in context the thrust created by the ion drive (used in space craft engines) is 20–250mN. Phenomenal isn’t it?
Nasa replicated this drive and although they made a miniature version of the Chinese proto type (lazy asses) they still got promising results.

Cannae drive Vs Em drive: The fourth Punic war

Cannae drive was invented by one Feta.

Oh pardon me that’s the Cheese.

Fetta, Mr.Guido Fetta is his name and his device is quite similar to the Em Drive however it uses a single plate at the end to provide its thrust unlike the Em drive which uses two.

Let’s just say that if Cannae was Rome and EM was Carthage, Rome would’ve lost the Punic wars, the world would be a different place and Jesus would be alive! Can I get an Amen ?!

But enough of the hypotheticals (talk about irony). It’s like what my girlfriend said when she compared me to her ex, there’s a lot of potential here, but it just doesn’t produce as much thrust.

Gif of a storm trooper thrusting his hips back and forth Em drive electron magnetic waves microwaves photons science thruster engine space travel astronomy exploration spacecraft future fuelless industry quantum mechanics laws of physics
In hindsight that probably wasn’t a good analogy…….for many reasons…….onward.

Space Application

Although Emdrive offers a host of solutions for terrestrial problems fuel, etc, the most thrilling prospect and main intention is for Space propulsion.

Not only does this offer fuel-less propulsion, the electricity that is needed to make this work is to be harnessed using the power of Ra.

This use of photovoltaic systems to power it almost makes the EMdrive a self sufficient and fundamentally a never ending source of energy.

illustration of the Em drive electron magnetic waves microwaves photons science thruster engine space travel astronomy exploration spacecraft future fuelless industry quantum mechanics laws of physics

 Implications and Benefits

  •    Numero Uno Ladies and gents. Space Travel just became hella cost efficient. From getting to LEO,GEO and beyond.

  •  Offers better maneuverability and travel time reduction due to thrust capacity. It is assumed that the travel to mars can be reduced from I dunno 8 months to a matter of weeks. And even more excitingly it is proposed that an enhanced juiced up version of the EM drive could enable travel to Proxima Centauri within the span of 30 years!

  • Satellite orbits can be altered with ease allowing for greater flexibility.

  •   Longer Satellite Lifespan. The microwave generating cathodes have a life span of 15 years. Procedures can be set up so that Satellites can replace this and go in for further maintenance to Space Stations thus increasing their lifespan from around 20 years to around 30-45 years.

International space Station Em drive electron magnetic waves microwaves photons science thruster engine space travel astronomy exploration spacecraft future fuelless industry quantum mechanics laws of physics
ISS

  • Space Missions will have greater parameters and greater freedom due to the lack of threat from fuel consumption rations.  Payloads can also be increased, with estimated launches of upto 20 tonnes being common with the implementation of the Drive.

  • Space Industry became more viable, economic and less further away. Travel has been a major obstacle in the realization of industrial space and even the colonization of Mars now we are just one step closer to that dream becoming a reality.

And on that Shocking revelation (which isn’t true this was in development from back in 2006) it is time to write off this article. Further info about the EMdrive can be found on the website.

But before ending dear readers we must salute the work of all the people who have contributed to the theory and development of the EmDrive, for it truly is an astounding invention.

Hats off to you Sir Roger Shawyer.
Haters gonna Hate.
But I’m just going to shake, shake, shake my maracas.

The Chronicles of NASA: The Man,the Moon & the Myth

It’s that merry time that comes once every year.
The Celebration of our first trek off of this earthly sphere.
It fills most Americans with patriotic cheer,
as their rivals the Russians, boo and jeer.
And in the middle of all this, what do I see?
An age old controversy
and so I shall end this rhyme, so weird and queer
I now regret starting it, Oh dear, Oh dear
Diminished hopes of being his peer
I’m afraid this can’t compare to a sonnet of Shakespeare
Thus concludes my short lived poet’s career
But Wait! Oh Dear readers, the point is missed I fear!
I have gone off on a tangent it would appear
The topic of the day is the Moon Landing. Hear, Hear

AAaaaand with that I lose half of the minute gathering of followers I had. Please accept my most humble apologies for that dreadful piece of prose. Went off on a whim there.  Let me compose myself (The Word Smith clears his throat).

Finally…Finally the Word Smith.has.come.back.toooo.talk.about.the.moooooooooooooooon.la-la-la-la-la-landing. (And now I lost the rest).
The rock screaming at the mic NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

But yes dear readers, proving yet again our obsession with multiples of five, we celebrated the 45th anniversary of the first Manned Moon Landing on the 20th of July.

It truly is a time for sharing and caring. Sharing posts of the damn moon landing and caring about whether or not it’s fake, that is. This might sound a bit hypocritical (since this is technically one of those posts) but dear readers I just want to put an end to this absurd controversy that’s been raging on for decades.

I shall examine eleven popular hoax theories about the moon landing that were debated, stating both the points and counter points.

Disclaimer: If you are a close-minded,self righteous prick of a conspiracy theorist then you may want to stick two fat fingers in your ear and hum loudly because shit’s about to get real.

Nuff said let’s get down to it.

1) That one small step

The iconic photograph of Buzz Aldrin’s boot print is one that symbolizes the statement “one small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind”.

Buzz aldrin's footprint NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

But theorists say that NASA is just throwing moon dust in our eyes.
Their point being that there is no way for a footprint to be that well preserved in a place where there is no atmosphere and no moisture to hold the sand together.

It is human nature to search for familiarity, and that is where the conspiracy theory crumbles to dust. Since there is no weather on the moon dust particles are not subjected to any weathering making these crystals jagged with sharp edges, enabling them to stick together like parts of a jigsaw puzzle thus maintaining the shape of the boot print.

With that starts this debate. We shall see who comes out ahead once the dust settles.

2) The waving flag and then it goes back

Flag on the moon NASA space program landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

The most commonly known issue is the waving flag. I saw it, you saw it, your grandpapi with the one eye saw the damn banner of the USA flapping about proudly in the breeze. This is an impossibility in a vacuum devoid of air. So why the bloody hell did it? Conspiracy theorists say because it was filmed here on earth

NASA blames the flag waving on a bad iron job, making the flag look unfurled and giving it that rippling effect, and on Neil Armstrong’s clumsy attempt to stick the flag in the ground thereby making the pole and consequently the flag flap around which can indeed happen even in a vacuum.
Gif of the flag on the moon NASA space program landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo
Cropped photograph animation of Buzz Aldrin saluting the "waving" flag

In this case proof does support NASA but to be fair to the conspiracy theorists it really looks like a gust of wind making the flag flutter. More to the point if that were true the theorized filming would have had to be shot outdoors or perhaps someone left the windows open on set .Do you think the minds who would formulate such a grand hoax will allow such a miniscule mistake?

3) Moon landing ain’t shit but tricks and slow-mo

Conspiracy theorists say that documentation of the astronauts prancing around on the moon is nothing but Hollywood hokum.

The footage when sped up shows the movement to be almost earth like (i.e. subjected to gravity).Trick wires and cables also enable the replication of the weightlessness and immensely elevated jumps.
Gif of an astronaut floating out into space NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space apollo

Batman saying No NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo
Always be Batman
Scientists rebut this claim by drawing attention to the dust that the lumbering astronauts and the lunar rover fling around when they move about on the moon. Dust on earth when kicked up suspends in the air forming clouds due to the atmosphere where as dust on the moon just falls back at the same rate as any other object.
This effect can be clearly seen in the recording

For NASA to fake such conditions they would have to create a vacuum studio which is an incredibly difficult task even in today’s standards. There really is no point kickin’up dust.

4)A Shadow of a doubt

The only source of light on the moon is the Sun right?

illustration of Shadow conspiracy NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

So explain how the shadows in this picture are cast in different directions and not parallel to each other.

Illustration of Lighting fallacy NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

And explain this picture of the clearly visible and well lit astronaut in the shadow of lunar module. I ain’t racist but shouldn’t he be black?

Clearly there are more light sources and errthing is staged.

NASA points its finger at the contours of the lunar landscape and holds it responsible for the different directions in which the shadows are cast. The exaggerated angular disparity however seems a little shady (pun intended).

The photograph of the lunar module and the clearly visible astronaut is explained by the simple fact that lunar regolith or moon dust/rock is quite reflective (can reflect up to 12% of light to be exact) thus illuminating the astronaut.

But that is nothing compared to the other reflective light source present. The earth has the ability to reflect 30% of light. Talk about overshadowing someone.

5) No moon rock left unturned

Conspiracy theorists are proud to present you with…… “The copyright rock”

Space prop rock NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

Yes that is the letter “C” imprinted on a lunar rock on the moon. Maybe someone from the previous Apollo missions carved their initials on there, looking at you Commander Charles Conrad; or perhaps this is the work of aliens.

Theorists however go back to the studio claiming this is a prop mishap where a set designer accidentally left a labeled rock upturned and that was caught on camera.

NASA provides quite suspicious answers as they say that this is a stray strand of hair caught up somewhere in the developing process, a mere glitch. Yet they also put forward a second accusation that this was a crime of photograph tampering by some elusive fiend.

When I checked the original photograph on the NASA website the C wasn’t on the rock.

Moon rover NASA space program landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

So why then did NASA scientists make a big deal over something that wasn’t even there and respond to this hoax accusation? Whether at the hands of NASA or a prankster it is evident some sort of photograph tinkering has been going on.

6) Caught in the cross hairs

Yet another photographic blunder was spotted by a very keen eyed possibly unemployed theorist who noticed something quite odd about the crosshairs in the Apollo photographs. The crosshairs said to have been etched into the camera lens appear to be behind some of the objects in the stills.

crosshairs conspiracy NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

How is this even possible? This is clearly a flaw wrought forth by the fabrication of these photographs.

This can be disputed with one word, “overexposure” and I don’t mean of theorists to conspiracy documentaries.
conspiracy theorist NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

I speak in terms of Photography

duck hunt dog caught in crosshairsNASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo The issue of the photographs where the crosshair appears behind the object only arises when the crosshair is in front of bright white areas. The problem with this is that it renders the thin line of the crosshair invisible thus creating the illusion of the object being in front of the cross hair.

But photo doctoring is always a possibility and theorists may still stick to their guns however I think it’s fair to say that this claim was shot down.

7) Seeing double

It would seem that the ever frugal NASA has erred again in its attempt to pull the wool over our eyes by using the same set of backdrops and same locations. The audacity!

Same backdrop conspiracy NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

This is blatantly clear in both the stills as well as the footage which when merged shows the exact same topography although NASA claims that they were filmed in completely different locations. Put two and two together and the answer is in plain sight, Orchestration!

NASA simply answers this allegation with an unenthused “No”. They point out that the moon is small, barren and has no atmosphere and the combination of all three affects the perception of distance thus giving us the illusion that the photographs were shot in the same location.

However this does not explain why the hill from the footage of Apollo 16 day one, is the exact same one in the footage of day two when NASA claims that they were shot in two different locales. Is it just coincidence or is there more to it than meets the eye?

8) Star struck

When you look up into the night sky you see thousands of sparkling stars out there in space. Theorists point out the total lack of stars in all the photographs and video footage taken on the moon. Why when on the moon, in space, are there no visible stars? Did God turn out his heavenly light bulbs or was this another prop disaster?

Vista of the earth from the moon NASA space program landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

Well much like celebrities trying to hide from the paparazzi it would seem that these stars are concealed in plain sight. In both cases photography is to blame. The brightly lit lunar landscape prevents the use of high exposure cameras and the shutter speed of the cameras used was fast thus rendering the photographs starless.

9) In the Spotlight

And to centre stage returns Commander Charles "Pete" Conrad.

Commander Charles Pete Conrad NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

The picture below was taken on the commander’s Apollo 12 mission and what is that I see on the top right corner of his visor?

Object on Visor Conspiracy NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

The lunar module? No that was to the right of the photograph. A UFO?  Could be. But theorists go with stage equipment. They believe that foreign object to be a spotlight or a ceiling fan dangling from the rafters.

It is actually believed to be one of the artifacts from previous missions. Which one exactly? I’m unsure of.  I actually think it looks a lot like a Command/Service Module orbiting the moon. If you think you know what it is I kindly invite you to comment below and to step into the limelight.

10) Brace for anti-climactic impact

No impact crater Conspiracy NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

Theorists say that they have seen craters bigger than that of the lunar landing on their own faces. There is no blast crater or dust displacement or any evidence of the 17 ton lunar module’s arrival on the moon in any of the photographs or video footage
The simple fact of the matter is that the moon’s gravity being 1/6th that of earth means that the Lunar module didn’t need any thrust to slow down its descent thus explaining the lack of a blast crater. The Lunar module did have a throttleable descent engine to enable the shift from its ejected horizontal position into a vertical descent.

Illustration of the Landing process NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

The engine is shut off way before the landing.
So the conspiracy theory it would seem is just full of hot air.
Blast!

 11) Van H-allen’s Radiation belt

Cleverly edited logo of Van Hallen NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

I “Ain’t talking ‘bout love” or Van Halen either but both the Band and the Belt (Van Allen’s belt that is) can melt your face and cook you inside out. So the question theorists ask, with no malicious intent is why weren’t the astronauts burnt alive by the radiation despite the aluminum coating layered module?

Illustration of the Van allen Belt NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo
NASA responded by stating that they built a rocket for a reason. The short time it takes to traverse through the belt reduces the radiation exposure to 1/25th of the allowed standard, set by the United States Atomic Energy Commission.

So conspiracy theorists it’s time to face the music.

If the points above weren’t satisfactory and you still believe in the depths of your heart that man has not set a single foot on the moon I give to you the Lunar Laser ranging experiment.

Laser tag with the moon

The moon is littered with artifacts. Among them are retro-reflectors left by the Apollo (manned) missions. These are, essentially, reflective surfaces that enabled scientists to bounce lasers off the moon.

Retroflectors NASA space program moon landing controversy science astronomy space astronauts apollo

I can almost hear the naysayers screaming their protests .Yes they did bounce lasers off the actual surface of the moon before the Apollo missions, but the reflectors offer better, stronger and far more accurate reflection.  This experiment is conducted in labs around the globe thus providing not only conclusive proof of man being on the moon but also an experiment to measure the distance from the earth to the moon.

This was a Public Service Announcement  brought to you by yours truly if you know any conspiracy theorists send them this way and I’ll bitch slap them with the truth.

Annuit cœptis
Peace out
